Mythbusters: Test Automation

Abstract
Test automation is often surrounded by bold promises and misconceptions that lead teams toward ineffective strategies and unrealistic expectations. This talk debunks the most common myths and replaces them with balanced, evidence-based insights.

Attendees will learn why automation is not a silver bullet, how to identify what should and should not be automated, and how to align automation efforts with actual business value. The talk reframes automation as a thoughtful, context-driven practice — not a goal in itself. Tools do not solve problems; teams do. Switching frameworks rarely fixes underlying issues with skills, strategy, or process. And automated tests carry their own risks: they can fail, mislead, or create false confidence.

The goal: empower teams to make smarter automation decisions and achieve meaningful, sustainable quality improvements.
